My happiness

I'm posting after a long time. I did not feel like writing all these days. Today, as the year comes to a close; I felt the urge to express my thoughts. The post is titled my happiness because I'm happy that I felt like writing. What is happiness? It is a subjective question. For me, a smile on my son's face is real happiness, a warm hug from my hubby is true happiness and so on. Many simple moments of my life give me happiness. A month back, I planted a rose sapling in my apartment's terrace and today, there are five roses that have bloomed. I was happy to see them. I 'm in a happy state of mind these days because I have got an opportunity to work in the area of academics, the field which I'm passionate about. I was waiting for this thing to happen for a quite long time and now it has come true. Professionally as well as personally, I'm happy.

This happiness that I'm talking about is my happiness  as a  mother, wife and a professional. I want to do something which will make people around me happy. I want to do something to educate girl-child in our society. I firmly believe that education is the only means for a women to prosper and emancipate. I do not know when I can start with this but surely one day I have to initiate with this process. I want to make the girl free from ignorance and slavery through education. As a women, I feel for every small girl who I see working as a laborer on farm, selling flowers on city roads, working as a maid. I 'm not against their working in these areas. I just want them to be educated so that they can voice their opinion if they are exploited at home or work place. I will be really happy if I can do that. This happiness will be a treasure that i will carry throughout my life. As a women, I will be happy and show my substance.

Phases of my life.

I understood the true meaning of word "life", when I gave birth to my son. I was the creator and he was           in front of my eyes. At that moment, I felt this is the greatest creation of the world. Today, as my son is growing up; I understand how my life is changing every day. My life revolves round him and I take all my decisions keeping him in my mind. My career, daily schedule, hobbies and so on is according to him. When I sit back then I realize how my life has undergone change and priorities are different . I'm slowly  getting in line with my life as a mother.

Life has been a roller-coaster ride. I remember my life as a school girl then as a college going girl; later as an independent working girl and then as a married woman. All these phases of life are interesting and I have tremendously enjoyed them. Every phases have pleasant as well as sad memories. Every phase has taught me a new lesson and made me a person that I am today. I cannot say that which phase out of the above mentioned was the best phase of my life. I cannot pick one as all of them have been important one.

Each phase has helped me to make friends, build new relationships, learn new skills and gain knowledge. I hope that the coming life will be interesting and will make me learn new things from the experience that it will give. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest, fulfill my responsibilities and complete my duties as a daughter, wife, daughter-in-law and as a mother. I want to grow in both my personal as well as professional life. This will help me to be a complete, independent women, which I want to be in my life.

Soft Skills Trainer

I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to work as a soft skills trainer. Soft skills training is an amazing field. As a trainer, you learn many things while imparting knowledge to the trainees. I  worked with a management institute as a soft skills trainer. I had to handle young and  enthusiastic graduates, who were eager to enter the corporate world with the needed skills and domain knowledge. To begin, it was difficult as I had to understand and then learn the intricacies of soft skills training. After a period of six months, I got adjusted to this area and started to enjoy my work. Dealing with students was a fabulous learning experience as I got to understand new concepts.

Through various activities and games, I taught communication, team building, interpersonal skills and so on to my students. My sessions would be full of group activities and team work. Many real life situations were enacted in the classrooms. Many mock personal interviews and group discussion sessions were organized so that the students get a feel of the situations. Students and I  relaxed and enjoyed the sessions. I made students to come out in open and speak freely in English about their dreams, goals and motives of their life. This helped them in public speaking, improving spoken English and building confidence.

For me, this position of Soft Skills Trainer gave a lot of confidence, skills and an opportunity to interact with lot of people from various fields like manufacturing, automobiles, academics, etc. This helped in development of my perspectives towards personal and professional life. Those two and half years are quite important part of my career and it was definitely an interesting phase in my life as it gave me a vision to look at my professional life.

Beginning of my career

Today, as I was analyzing my career till date, I remembered my first day in my first job and those cherished moments. I was overjoyed when I got my post-graduation result. I had done really well, which was above my expectations. Once my result was out, I was waiting for an interesting job opportunity. One of my favorite teachers whom I respect a lot called me on my phone one afternoon and told me that today there are interviews scheduled in a college and you need to go for it.

I was not prepared for it but I took up this challenge and went for the interview. As I entered the college building, I saw curious faces that are commonly seen during interview times. Some of my friends too were there for the interview. I sat there and waited patiently for my turn. I was called for the interview. It went off well as I was satisfied with my performance. I did not expect much out of it as it was my first interview. After two to three days, I came to know that I was selected for the position of lecturer in English.I was happy and waiting for my offer letter.

The day I got my offer letter. I could not believe it and then I started with my journey. This journey took me to an interesting phase of life where I learned skills like communication, team work, interpersonal and made me the person that I am today. My initial days in college were good as there were no students and I had to do some administrative jobs. It was a great pleasure and joy to learn and understand the style of working from my head of the department, who was one one of my favorite teachers.

The real thing happened  when the classes started and I had to begin with my teaching job. I had to prepare myself well for my lessons as student came up with various queries.I taught grammar, poetry, short stories, letter-writing and communication to undergraduate students.  It was fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a learning experience as I got to interact with young minds daily. Apart from teaching English, I was involved in many student activities. Teaching is my passion and so, I made sure that all my students enjoy what is going in the class and come out of college as better individuals.

Marriage

Marriage is a word that has been part of human society for ages together. It is a lovely bond that a husband and wife share. This marital bond helps the two individuals to be friends and stay together for entire life. When I decided to get married, I had many inhibitions, prejudices in my mind as every girl has. But all those things were bygones when I met my man of dreams.

My man is not perfect but he is the one with whom I can share my joys and sorrows. I have accepted him with his strengths and weaknesses. We too have our share of ups and downs in our relationship. I feel somewhere these petty issues helps us to sort out our lives and make our relationship stronger. Our issues for fights are simple like not finding enough time to spend with each other, why you will decide everything and so on. We fight and then reconcile as time goes by. At the end of the day, I'm sure that he will be their with me what may come I way. This sort of understanding  and trust has helped our relationship to grow.

Today, I'm happily married and enjoys his company. We thoroughly enjoy going out for dinners, having ice creams, pastries and chocolates  together and  shopping for each other. These simple moments of life are to be cherished in a marital relationship. I like my man as he is the one who is first to criticize me on some thing and simultaneously the first to encourage for a good thing that I do. I.m sure he is the one who tells me the truth and I know he will do that for the entire life.

Being a mother

When I got to know that I'm pregnant, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I was overjoyed, scared, confused, and so on. I was happy that I was going to be creator of a new life, scared because initially during first trimester I had some medical problems and confused whether I will be able to manage the new born and my life. Slowly and steadily through the nine months, I saw a lot of ups and downs. I learned many lessons and understood many things during that phase of my life. I had terrible mood swings during those nine months and my dear husband had to handle me and my moods. He managed the situation and showed his love and care for me. He was always  at the receiving end.

Finally when  the big day arrived, I was eager to find out whether it is a boy or girl, whether s/he looks like me or my husband, s/he has hair and so on. I had a planned C- Section in the month of April. It was one of the best mornings of my life as I was in the OT lying with a lot of expectations. I delivered a baby boy. I had intense pain but I had my bundle of joy with me. When I held him in my arms for the first time, I could not believe that I had actually nurtured him for nine months and now, he is in front of my eyes.

I went through a  lot of physical and emotional changes during that phase. After my son's birth,  it was learning time as I had to understand how to hold, feed and change nappies. It was a time when I felt I was terribly depressed at times as I felt I'm not able to take right care of the new born. during that time, my hubby and parents supported me a lot. I and my husband named our boy "Shreesh". We both liked the name and chose it immediately.

Today, my son is growing and everyday  I see and record his development. The day he made the first sound, he rolled over, he sat, crawled, his first teeth and so on. These milestones in his development are fun to watch and I'm thoroughly enjoying this fabulous phase of life. I too am growing as a mother after the initial hiccups. I know it is not a smooth ride but I'm ready for it. Shreesh is the prized possession of my life, he has brought me and my husband closer and made our relationship stronger.

Woman as a friend

Every woman plays various roles like daughter, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, mother and so on. But, the best role that she plays is of a friend as she is not expected to behave in a certain manner that she need to do in other roles. She is free and independent so she is at her best as a friend. She can be there for her friend in all the circumstances.
When I make  statements of this sort, many people may agree or disagree, I have made this statement from my own experiences. When I'm with my friends; I'm at my best. I share a good relation with all my friends right from my school and college days, These days, I do not communicate with them a lot as everyone is busy in our own world.  If I decide to be someone' s friend I make sure that I'm there for that person through his or her good as well as bad times.
As a women, I have patience, stamina, caring attitude, understanding and so on, which are important in all sorts of relationship. This helps me to deal with people of all sorts and various situations. Woman has an innate capability of adjusting well to various circumstances and coming out as a winner. I am happy that having a lot of friends has helped me to grow as a human being as I learn various things from different people.

Started blogging

Hi Everyone! I always wanted to start my blog. It was on priority list for quiet some time now. But somehow, I did not get the right time to begin. It may be due to my laid back attitude. To start my blog was one of the new year resolution that I had made. I did not start in the month of  January but I could begin in the month of February. It is better late than never is the only thing that I can say right now.

Writing is something that I have always liked. In school, I would love to write essays and found that I always loved to describe an event, person and so on. This love for writing took me to reading and later to complete my post graduation in English literature. Even now, I work in the field of writing, which satisfies me.

I will express my thoughts, views and perspectives about various things on this blog. This is a personal space, which will help me to evolve as a better human being in the course of time.  I will try to add new posts as and when I get time from my routine tasks.
